2005 Women Who Inspire Award Recipients

Women Chefs and Restaurateurs (WCR) recognized Sukey Jamison and six other women who have demonstrated excellence and innovation in: the dining room, kitchen, baking and pastry arts, beverage profession, farming and food production, community affairs, as well as for a lifetime of culinary excellence. The awards were presented November 6, 2005 at a gala held in conjunction with WCR’s national conference in Seattle.

“From the field to the table, women play a major role in what we eat.” said Helene Kennan, president of WCR, “Tonight we honor seven women who through their work are inspiring all of us to continue our pursuit of excellence in all aspects of foodservice.”

Although the majority of those who work in the food service industry are women, very few ever reach the upper echelons of management. WCR believes that awards like these inspire and encourage women to pursue and excel in culinary careers. This year’s recipients include: Sukey Jamison Owner Jamison Farm Latrobe, PA WCR Golden Plow Award sponsored by Bon Appétit Management Company Recognizing excellence in growing or producing from nature's bounty and honoring a woman whose skill in farming or making artisanal products results in food that graces our plates while respecting the environment.
